On April 18, 1955, a charter was granted by the Grand Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, in cooperated at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and reads as follows:
“Who have legally formed and elected officers and to their successors for the purpose of constituting a branch of the Fraternal Order of Police LAKE COUNTY State of INDIANA Lodge No. 125 of the Fraternal Order of Police”.
“In witness there of we have subscribed our names and affixed the seal of the Grand Lodge this 18th Day of April 1955”. John J. Quinn, Grand Lodge Secretary and Jack Dudek Grand Lodge President.
In September of 1983 then Lake County Sheriff Chris Anton passed away of a heart attack; during the December 07, 1983 monthly meeting an amendment was read to the membership to change the Lodge name from Lake County Lodge No. 125 to read Lake County Chris Anton Lodge No. 125. The amendment would then pass and the Lodge became known as the LAKE COUNTY CHRIS ANTON LODGE No. 125.
Brother Chris Anton was a charter member; served on the first elected board as a Trustee and was then elected President of the Lodge four times: (1957, 1962, 1973 and 1974 also served as Indiana State Lodge Vice President.
